    Open your Jira instance (e.g., yourcompany.atlassian.net)

    Click 'Create' in the top navigation bar

  3. 3

    Select the project where the issue belongs

  4. 4

    Choose the issue type (Story, Task, Bug, Epic)

    Story = user-facing work; Task = internal; Bug = something broken; Epic = collection of related work.

    Enter a clear summary describing the work

    Imperative voice: 'Add retry logic to webhook handler' beats 'Webhook handler.'

    Set the Reporter (defaults to you) and Assignee

    Add description, labels, priority, and sprint if applicable

  8. 8

    Click 'Create' — the issue is now in the project backlog
